As the board of choice for Yes founder Romain De Marchi, the Basic Uninc takes the innovative shape of Yes’s regular Basic and gives it a complete Uninc work over. This process creates a truly stunning freestyle-focused all-terrain board that has the performance to take on absolutely anything that you can throw at it. Built around a state of the art blunt-tipped twin shape that features Yes’s acclaimed Underbite sidecut technology, the Uninc Basic RDM gives you all the balance and control that you could ever need. No matter if you’re lapping the rail line in the park or hitting the kicker pro-line, this board keeps you in control all the time. However, the Basic Uninc is way more than just a freestyle board. Thanks to that advanced Underbite sidecut technology and Slamback inserts, it also delivers a level of performance both on the piste and in the pow that you really wouldn’t expect from such a freestyle focussed board. Now where the Basic Uninc steps it up over the regular Basic is in both the profile and the construction. The easy-going CamRock of the regular Basic is replaced with a full-length camber. This change powers up the board, adding pop and increasing edge hold. In addition, the uprated core and tri-ax glass structural layers add another dimension of power and response, making the Basic Uninc RDM a proper high-performance all-terrain charger. So, if you’re after a board that can deliver outstanding performance no matter if you are doing park laps, charging groomers or even looking for back-country powder stashes, you need to be looking at the Basic Uninc RDM.Â
Shape Overview
The Basic Uninc shares the same true twin shape as Yes’s regular Basic. This innovative design gives the board a balanced freestyle feel, so it delivers all the control that even the most committed freestyle ride could ever need. However, the shape is more than just a regular freestyle twin. Not only does it ride great in the park, but it’s also equally at home when charging around the mountain. Again, as per the regular Basic, it’s the unique UnderBite Edge profile that creates the Basic Uninc’s game-changing riding performance. UnderBite edges re-distribute a rider’s weight to enhance ease of turning and edge hold. Creating divots inward at the binding area reduces and disrupts the edge’s surface area that has contact with the snow while the board is turning. These divots increase edge pressure by distributing your weight/energy into the areas where it’s needed – from the binding out and through the centre of the board where the carving arc occurs. This segmentation of the sidecut into three key zones focuses your body weight into areas that initiate, hold and release turns.
Profile
The Uninc Basic’s camber profile is an update of what we would call a traditional camber. By starting the full-length camber profile just after the contact points, you get all the benefits of a conventional camber, but you also create a smoother hook-free ride. The Camber profile dissipates the rider’s energy more evenly along the board’s edge length giving a more stable and responsive ride as the edge is engaged along its entire length.
Construction
As you would expect for Romain De Marchi’s board, the Uninc Basic doesn’t hold back when it comes to construction. Heading up its high-quality build is the advanced wood core. This combines durable poplar and lightweight paulownia with bamboo stringers running through the centre to deliver a poppy and powerful flex through the length of the board while reducing overall weight. To this, Yes then create structural layers formed from a torsionally responsive tri-ax weave glass fibre. This stiffens up the torsional flex of the board, ensuring that no matter how hard you push, you can be confident that the Uninc Basic can take it all in its stride.
Base
As the Uninc Basic is all about performance, Yes step up the base material to a Sintered True. Sintered True is harder and more expensive than extruded, and it can be faster for those that ride aggressively fast.Â
