Nitro Optisym
The Optisym is aimed at freestyle-focused riders looking for a high-performance board that not only puts it down in the park but also kills it out on the mountain. Built around an advanced asymmetric blunt twin chassis, the Optisym delivers that perfect combination of on-slope performance with freestyle balance and control. Its innovative asymmetric shape features a deeper sidecut on the heelside edge; this deeper sidecut offsets the body’s bio-mechanical inability to drive the heelside edge with the same pressure as the toeside. By adding a deeper sidecut, the board delivers a far more balanced overall ride, ensuring that no matter what or where you ride, this is one board that’s going to give you complete control. Now there’s no point in having that state-of-the-art shape if the Optisym can’t back it up with performance, but thanks to the advanced construction, that’s not an issue with this board. Utilising the Whiplash profiled Powercore II featuring the responsive Powerwall technology, freestyle friendly Bi-Lite laminates and park-proof Premium Extruded FH base, the Optisym has all the performance you could ever need. So if you’re after a board that perfectly blends the characteristics of a freestyle board with the all-terrain versatility of an all-mountain board, then the new Optisym could be your perfect board.
Rider Style
Freestyle riders looking for the ultimate high-performance freestyle board that delivers outstanding control, response and feel over the whole mountain.
Shape Overview
The Optisym’s state-of-the-art balanced twin chassis features a complex asymmetric sidecut. This innovative technology modifies the sidecut by adding a deeper profile on the heelside edge, offsetting the body’s inability to power up the heel edge to the same degree as the toe edge. This re-balancing of energy transfer results in a more efficient overall ride, inspiring you to push the board and ride to the limit, all without compromising the overall freestyle balance of the board. It utilises a mid-wide riding platform to ensure the Optisym offers as much stability as possible and allows you to crank it through turns without worrying about toe or heel drag.
Profile: True Camber
Cam-Out Camber is a traditional camber with early and smooth transitions into tip and tail. Those early rise tips allow snow to flow under the nose, reduce drag, and ensure the board comes onto the plane quickly and easily. The regular camber allows the rider to power up the sidecut across its entire length, creating a stable and reassuring ride on edge.
Dual Degressive sidecut
In terms of sidecut, the Optisym utilises the advanced Dual Degressive sidecut. This forgiving sidecut blends a smaller radius in the centre with two larger ones in the tip and tail, making it looser and more playful.
Construction
Heading up the Optisym’s high-quality construction is the Powercore II. This durable wood core is constructed from tip-to-tail poplar with additional beech wood stringers and delivers the perfect balance of strength, smooth response and insane snap. Nitro then profile the core with their Whiplash core profiling to give it its park riding characteristics. This advanced profiling reduces thickness between the feet to give the board a more predictable flex through the centre whilst adding thickness outside the bindings for added pop and pressing performance. To give the Optisym its freestyle flex, Nitro form the structural layers from their playful Bi-Lite glass. This torsionally softer glass creates a playful yet responsive ride, perfect for this type of board. To enhance the Optisym’s freestyle credentials even further, it utilises Nitro’s new Ureshred sidewalls. This advanced Urethane sidewall helps dampen the edges and increases sidewall strength to resist impacts. The heelside edge is then boosted with the Asym-specific Powerwall, which beefs up the size and strength of the sidewall, allowing you to get onto and off the heel edge quicker and more efficiently. Now add the more robust and durable Railkiller edges, which are more resistant to damage, and you have the perfect construction for a high-performance all-terrain freestyle board.
Base
Extruded FH Base. This durable, low-maintenance base is perfect for urban and rail focussed boards as it takes loads of abuse and is easy to repair.
