In the pantheon of great snowboard innovators and designers, Mike Olson sits at the very top table alongside such luminaries as Tom Sims and Jake Burton. Still at the top of his game, over 45 years since his first-ever snowboard design, Mike Olson has been behind some of the most important innovations that have shaped snowboard design and construction. So, when Mike designs a board for himself, you know it’s going to be a little bit special, and special is exactly what the Magic BM is. Aimed at experienced riders, the Magic BM’s combination of advanced design and state-of-the-art construction delivers a unique game-changing all-terrain snowboard that goes above and beyond the expectations of even the most discerning rider. Built around a versatile directional shape, the Magic BM is in its element charging over the whole mountain. The low entry directional nose profile delivers effortless lift and float in the pow, while the shorter freeride inspired tail gives a more dynamic and responsive drive out the back of the board. As you would expect on a board like this, Mike and Lib-Tech don’t hold back when it comes to construction. Jam-packed with some of the most up to date thinking in snowboard materials, the Magic BM has all the performance you could ever need to take full advantage of its advanced shape. So, if you’re after a board that’s going to kill it in the pow and on the piste, a board that’s going to give you unrivalled levels of feel and control from one of the best board designers there is, then the Magic BM is the board for you.
Rider Style: Freestyle/All Terrain
The Magic BM is aimed at experienced riders looking for the ultimate in freestyle/all-terrain performance.
Shape Overview: Directional Twin
The Magic BM’s unique directional twin shape is an evolution of Lib-Tech’s iconic Banana Magic. Utilising a well balanced directional twin outline with a pow-friendly low entry nose shape, the Magic BM delivers the perfect blend of freestyle feel, with the float and lift that would shame many a pure freeride board. It features a tight radius Magne Traction sidecut to deliver rock-solid on edge performance. This innovative sidecut profile adds seven strategically located edge serrations along the length. These serrations add additional traction points to the edges ensuring that you get unrivalled edge hold and control.
Profile: C2 Camber/Rocker
The Magic BM is all about performance and versatility, so Lib-Tech fits it with their C2 hybrid Rocker/Camber profile. This places mild rocker between your feet with powerful cambers to the tips and tails. This delivers the perfect balance of power, pop, and precision while enhancing float in deep pow. Also, those aggressive cambers work perfectly with the Magna Traction sidecut to give a solid and confidence-inspiring feeling through the turn.
Construction
Internally the Magic BM is a tour de force of new technology. Heading this up is the advanced Firepower core. Constructed from 60% Aspen, 40% Paulownia this stunning wood core combines feather-like weight with a lively and durable ride. To this Lib-Tech then add advanced structural layers formed from torsionally stiff tri-ax glass reinforced with 45° basalt webbing and power beams. This combination creates a responsive and dynamic flex that gives you the confidence to push the board to the limit. Finally, the Eco Sublimated Bio-Bean top sheet saves weight and adds an additional level of dampening.
