As the board that almost single handily redefined Freeride snowboarding, the high-end Flagship is still the go-to board for riders looking for the ultimate freeride performance. Proven in some of the most extreme environments globally and honed to perfection in the heat of battle on the freeride world tour, the Flagship delivers a level of performance that must be experienced to be believed. This class-leading performance ensures that you know you’ve got the best thing strapped to your feet to take on the most challenging terrain. The Flagship’s stunning performance comes from a combination of state of the art design and advanced construction. Heading up this high-end build is the state of the art directional shape with blunt diamond tip nose. This innovative shape delivers almost powder board levels of float in deep snow whilst giving a dynamic and responsive ride on piste. Match that groundbreaking shape with the freeride specific Directional Rocker and Traction Tech Sidecut; and you’ve also got a board that is going to deliver rock-solid, predictable and stable performance in steep, extreme backcountry terrain as it will when blasting groomers. Internally Jones’s don’t hold back on the construction; by using the most up to date snowboard technology available, the Flagship delivers stunning response, control and feel.
Rider Style
Advanced to Expert riders who are looking for a high-performance freeride board that won’t ever feel wanting.
Shape Overview
The Flagship features a fully directional shape which utilises an innovative blunt diamond nose and tail profile. This state of the art shape tricks the board into thinking it has a longer nose, which helps channel the flow of snow under the front, increasing both float and lift. However, as the nose length is still relatively short, the new Flagship has a surprisingly low swing weight, giving the rider a more controllable and balanced overall ride. Now, as the new Flagship is all about performance, Jones fits it with their innovative Traction Tech 3.0 sidecut profile. This innovative sidecut adds small bumps along the length of the sidecut, creating additional traction points at the edges. These deliver a more stable and secure ride without the unpredictability of other manipulated sidecuts.
Profile
The Flagships freeride specific Directional Rocker profile combines an extended rocker zone at the nose with a set-back camber between the inserts and a shorter rocker at the tail. This profile allows the board to float effortlessly in deep snow while still delivering a powerful and dynamic ride on hardpack terrain. When combined with the stiffer flex, the shorter rocker at the tail helps create a more responsive and stable feel at the back of the board while increasing power out the back of the turn.
3D Contour Base 3.0
One of the key features that sets the Flagship apart from other freeride boards is the innovative 3D Contour Base profile. This unique design adds an even balance of a 7mm spoon at the nose and tail running from the start of the board’s rocker zone. Although this bevel doesn’t look much to the naked eye, it transforms how the board rides. Turn initiation becomes smoother and more fluid while float at the nose increases, thanks to how the profile funnels the snow down and under the nose.
Construction
Heading up the Flagship’s advanced construction is the advanced FSC Power Core. This high-quality wood core combines poplar stringers with lightweight paulownia and poppy bamboo to deliver a dynamic and durable foundation. Jones then adds structural layers formed from torsionally responsive bio-resin tri-ax glass. These deliver a dynamic and rock-solid ride. The addition of Flax /Basalt stringers step-up that torsional flex and further ensures that the Flagship gives you the confidence to push the board to the max, no matter how technical or extreme it gets. To ensure that the Flagship doesn’t feel too twitchy and uncomfortable, Jones fit it with an FSC approved Engineered Veneer top sheet. This looks great, but it also helps dampen out unwanted vibrations to deliver a more comfortable ride.
Base
As you would expect for such a performance inspired board, Jones doesn’t hold back when it comes to the base. Featuring a super high end 9900 sintered material, it’s one of the fastest glides out there.
