As one of the most iconic boards in the DC lineup, the team-developed PLY has earned itself an enviable reputation as one of the best-performing all-terrain freestyle boards in its sector. Aimed at intermediate riders and up, this versatile and fun to ride board can do it all. From side hits, park laps, and generally jibbing around the mountain to touring the resort with friends, the PLY dispatches it all with minimal effort. Built around a playful true-twin shape, the PLY delivers a well-balanced ride, so you’ll have all the control you could ever need if you want to start getting technical in the park. Match that balanced shape with DC’s Lock and Load camber, which blends traditional camber with flat sections just outside the contact points, and not only do you have a board that delivers a balanced freestyle ride, you also have a board with quite remarkable all-terrain performance as well. Internally the PLY features a balance of playful bi-ax glass paired with DC’s freestyle focussed Stratus Core. This combination gives the optimum balance of playful freestyle torsional flex with a more dynamic flex through the length.
Rider Style
Intermediate to advanced looking for a playful freestyle-inspired all-terrain board that is equally happy playing in the park as it is cruising around the mountain.
Shape Overview
Built around a balanced twin tip shape, the PLY delivers all the control and feel that even the most creative freestyle rider could ever need. Its combination of regular width and a sidecut that sits on the tighter side of regular ensures that even though the PLY is playful and predictable, it still feels nimble underfoot.
Profile
To help give the PLY that all-terrain versatility, DC utilise their innovative Lock and Load Camber profile. This versatile camber profile combines traditional camber through the mid-section with extended flat zones to the transition points. This clever combination creates a flat, stable platform that gives the board its unique balance of skate-like playfulness and responsive and dynamic ride.
Internals
Heading up the PLY’s high-quality construction is the lively Stratus wood core. This responsive FSC-certified core combines poplar with two beech stringers running through the centre section. This durable combination of woods gives increased strength through the insert zones, but more importantly, it adds extra pop through the length of the board. Combine that with the playful bi-ax weave glass fibre structural layers with Bio Resin matrix, and you get that perfect balance of all-terrain control and freestyle-feel that has made the PLY such a success.
Base
Keeping with the PLY’s freestyle roots, DC fit it with their easy repair True Base. This high molecular extruded base needs minimal maintenance to keep its speed.
